After the Christmas and New Year holidays, this week we welcomed back our volunteers to the kennels. This of course has meant lots fuss for the kennel hounds, together with lots of treats.
As we have told you, the hounds enjoyed turkey dinners thanks to our very supportive butcher Paul and are now enjoying their daily meals that include the donated festival fish.
Many thanks to all of you from the hounds for the 607 tins of fish that were brought to the kennels to make feeding time that little bit more tasty. Oily fish also helps with the hounds joints and coats, so if you find that you may have bought a tin to many, please think of the hounds.
This week we said goodbye to Sally, who changed her name to Grace when she went to live with Forrest family in Brierley Hill. Miles was the second hound to leave, keeping his kennel name, as he joined Wood family in Hednesford. He was closely followed by Stella, who changed her name to Isolde as she joined the Mills family in Stafford. Ava was the fourth hound to leave us, again keeping her name as she become part of the Walton family in Hednesford. You of course can see these fab four with their new owners on our social media pages facebook and twitter.
Also this week Caterina and Mac, who has only recently joined us, Glen and Wendy have been reserved and following the necessary home checks will be leaving for their new home next week, In all a good start to the year.
There are always retired hounds waiting to join us and this week we have seen the arrival of Mac, Caterina, Lara, Blue, Lizzie and Bridget. Early next week they will be joined by Rebecca, Scarlet and Walter. Their photographs and write up’s will be on the homing page of the website very shortly.
In the next few weeks, we shall be contacting town and city centres, superstores carnivals and fetes, as we start to programme our 2018 Awareness events and Roadshows. If you know of an event close to you that we can attend to show what great pets greyhounds make, or feel that you can give a few hours to help promote the breed, please contact the kennels on 01902 291080. These events play an important part in finding loving homes for our hounds, so any help will really be appreciated.
If you require food, we are pleased to say that we have had a delivery this week and you are welcome to collect it between 10 am and 4 pm every day, or at our first sponsor weekend of the year Saturday January 27th and Sunday 28th. Nail clipping will be available and subject to the weather the field will be open for galloping. All we ask that you park on Hilton Park Services, which is free for two hours and walk the short distance to the kennels.
